Texas volleyball playoffs finish the bi-district round Saturday, Oct. 31, before surviving teams move into area matches scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 2-3.
The University Interscholastic League volleyball calendar sets the statewide windows for every round. It also shows an important bracket difference: Class 1A has one more named round than Classes 2A through 6A.
Individual match times and sites are not established by the statewide calendar. Fans should verify those details through the participating schools and official bracket provider before traveling.
Texas volleyball playoffs by classification
| Round | Class 1A | Classes 2A-6A |
|---|---|---|
| Bi-district | Oct. 29-31 | Oct. 29-31 |
| Area | Nov. 2-3 | Nov. 2-3 |
| Next round | Regional quarterfinals, Nov. 5-7 | Regional semifinals, Nov. 5-7 |
| Following round | Regional semifinals, Nov. 9-10 | Regional finals, Nov. 9-10 |
| State-semifinal window | Included with regional finals, Nov. 13-14 | Nov. 14 |
| State finals | Nov. 19-21 | Nov. 19-21 |
The table is a Daily Quill comparison of the two calendars published on the UIL page. Both tracks reach the state-final window on the same dates, but they do not use the same round names or progression between the area round and state semifinals.
Why the two playoff paths differ
For 1A, the Nov. 5-7 window is a regional quarterfinal. The field then advances to regional semifinals Nov. 9-10 and a combined regional-final and state-semifinal window Nov. 13-14.
Classes 2A through 6A reach regional semifinals in the Nov. 5-7 window. Regional finals follow Nov. 9-10, and state semifinals are Nov. 14.
That difference can produce confusion when two schools or families use the phrase “regional semifinal” without also naming a classification. A 1A regional semifinal falls Nov. 9-10, while the same round name for 2A-6A falls Nov. 5-7.
The UIL also states that dates, times and materials are subject to change. The statewide window is the first check, not the final source for a particular gym, ticket link or first serve.
A verification sequence before each match
Fans can reduce schedule errors by checking information in this order:
- Confirm the classification and round on the UIL volleyball page.
- Open the official school or district athletics page for the matchup, location and start time.
- Verify the ticket source from the host school rather than an unrelated resale listing.
- Recheck the morning of the match for weather, venue or timing changes.
The UIL page links to MaxPreps as its results and bracket partner, but the league tells member schools to keep official information current. When listings conflict, the participating school and UIL record should control travel decisions.
The Texas volleyball playoffs calendar also helps families distinguish a round window from a confirmed appointment. UIL assigns the dates available for each stage, while participating schools still have to settle the gym, first serve and ticket details. A bracket entry without those local details is a reason to check again, not a complete travel plan.
For teams advancing on Tuesday, the Texas volleyball playoffs leave a short turnaround before matches running Nov. 5-7. Families making hotel or work arrangements should wait for the school to publish the next site rather than assuming the higher seed will host.
What happens after the area round
The area-round window ends Tuesday. Class 1A winners then prepare for regional quarterfinals, while 2A-6A winners prepare for regional semifinals during the same Nov. 5-7 period.
The compressed calendar means some teams may have only two days between rounds. A result alone does not confirm the next venue or time, particularly when schools must coordinate a neutral site.
Readers following regional sports can also use The Daily Quill’s Sports desk for verified schedules and game-day logistics. The next statewide date requiring an update is Nov. 3, when the area window closes and the Nov. 5-7 matchups become the active round.
