Florida petroleum cleanup applicants can begin submitting projects Sunday, Nov. 1, for a state funding window that offers up to $12.5 million and closes at 4 p.m. Dec. 30.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection notice covers individual and bundled sites in the Advanced Cleanup Program. The program is designed to move eligible petroleum-contaminated sites through remediation under the process established in state law.
This Florida petroleum cleanup window is larger than the comparable period a year earlier. DEP listed up to $10 million for the application period that opened Nov. 1, 2025. The new total is $2.5 million higher, a 25 percent increase.

For Florida petroleum cleanup applicants, the earlier closing time is the practical difference most likely to cause a preventable late filing. Applicants should use the current forms and guidance rather than reusing a prior-year package.
DEP says updates to the Advanced Cleanup forms and guidance will be posted by Nov. 1. That makes the current program page, not a saved copy from 2025, the controlling starting point.
What applicants should verify before filing
The announcement supplies the funding ceiling and application period, but it does not say that every submitted project will receive money. A complete package still needs to match the current program requirements.
Before submission, an applicant should:
- Confirm that the petroleum site is eligible for the Advanced Cleanup process.
- Download the forms and guidance posted for the 2026 window.
- Decide whether the site will be submitted individually or in a bundled application.
- Check every required signature, attachment and cost entry against the current instructions.
- Plan delivery early enough for DEP to receive the package before 4 p.m. Dec. 30.
- Retain proof showing when and how the application was delivered.
The department identifies a program coordinator for process questions, but the notice says that contact does not handle pre-bid or bidding information. Applicants should keep procedural questions separate from restricted procurement communications.
A date on the state page needs confirmation
DEP’s current notice says the public opening of timely applications will occur Jan. 7, 2026. That date precedes the Nov. 1-Dec. 30, 2026 application window and therefore appears inconsistent with the rest of the notice.
The Daily Quill is not silently changing the agency’s date. Applicants should confirm the public-opening year through the updated Nov. 1 guidance or directly with the program before making travel or viewing plans.
That discrepancy does not change the clearly stated application window, funding ceiling or 4 p.m. closing time. It does mean the public-opening date should not be placed on a calendar without another official check.
How this fits the broader restoration program
DEP separately says a grace period affecting qualifying petroleum restoration purchase orders has been extended through June 30, 2027. The department also previously lowered the program’s funding-eligibility priority score to zero, bringing eligible sites into funding range.
Those policies do not make an Advanced Cleanup application automatic. They describe the wider restoration program, while this notice establishes a specific competitive window and allocation.
Florida communities tracking cleanup work can compare this application round with the state’s separate water-quality awards. The programs fund different stages and should not be combined into one total.
The next controlling document is the updated application guidance DEP says it will post by Nov. 1. Applicants have until 4 p.m. Dec. 30, but the unresolved public-opening date should be confirmed before relying on it.
