Job seekers can meet more than 20 employers in Grenada today during a free four-hour event that includes openings in manufacturing, public safety, health care, hospitality and state government.

The Grenada County job fair runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Corey Forum on the Holmes Community College Grenada Campus, 1060 Avent Drive.

Admission is free for applicants. The Governor’s Job Fair Network tells attendees to dress for an interview, bring copies of a resume and be prepared for employers to conduct interviews on site.

This arrangement is a Daily Quill reorganization of the official employer list. It is meant to help an applicant decide which tables to visit first, not to replace the complete listing or an employer’s current job description.

A short plan before the doors open

An applicant can save time by choosing two or three job families and preparing a brief introduction for each. A manufacturing applicant might put welding, equipment or quality experience near the top of the resume. Someone seeking state service should be ready to discuss licenses, education and previous public-facing work.

Bring more than one resume. The official page lists multiple employers with overlapping roles, including welders, material handlers, operators, maintenance workers, social service specialists and nurses. A single printed copy can limit the number of employers an applicant can approach.

The event notice says on-site interviews may occur. That does not mean every company will interview every visitor or make an offer today. Applicants should ask what the next step is, whether a separate online application is required and how the employer will identify legitimate follow-up messages.

The Mississippi Department of Employment Security says local WIN Job Centers can help with resumes and job searches. The Grenada WIN Job Center is listed at 1229 Sunset Drive.

Readers can find other local deadlines and services on The Daily Quill’s Community and Public Services desk. Regional employer announcements appear in Business and Money coverage.

What to confirm at each employer table

Ask for the exact work location, shift, minimum qualifications, application route and expected follow-up period. A job title alone may not show whether the work is in Grenada County, whether nights or weekends are required or whether a credential is mandatory.

Applicants should avoid giving bank details, payment information or account passwords to anyone claiming to recruit at the event. A legitimate application may request identity and work-authorization information through a verified hiring process, but a job offer should not require an applicant to buy equipment or send money.

The Grenada County job fair closes at 1 p.m. today. Anyone who cannot attend can use the official employer list to identify organizations of interest, then continue through each employer’s verified careers page or a WIN Job Center.
